W Pico Preschool

The project is a preschool facility located on West Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles, designed as a light-filled, child-centered learning environment that supports early education, play, and social interaction. The spatial concept is organized around a generous central open play area with assembly steps, creating a flexible heart for group activities, performances, and daily gatherings. Classrooms are arranged around this core to provide clear orientation, visual connection, and safe circulation for children and staff. Warm natural materials, including wood ceilings and soft terrazzo flooring, are paired with a calm palette of pastel accents to create a welcoming and emotionally supportive atmosphere. Upper-level spaces accommodate additional classrooms, music and library areas, while maintaining visual continuity through open railings and internal balconies. Carefully controlled daylight enters through large openings and skylights, enhancing comfort while reducing reliance on artificial lighting. Dedicated administrative, staff, kitchen, and storage areas are efficiently integrated to support daily operations without disrupting learning spaces. The result is a contemporary preschool environment that balances functionality, safety, and architectural character, fostering curiosity, creativity, and community from the earliest years.
